Meet Morgan! She served in the Navy in Afghanistan and though her passion has always been art, she pushed it away, never feeling comfortable with her true self.
Thank you Peter and Spencer for helping Morgan pursue her dream of producing music. Peter is showing Morgan how to edit and record music on a computer, and Spencer is providing Morgan producing advice. Because of their help, Morgan is more confident about embracing her artistic talent and has started to write poetry and play the guitar. “Accepting free help is strange at first but this experience has shown me sometimes people are just really kind and generous with no strings attached." - Morgan The Wingman Program connects veterans to people in the community to support their needs. Jonathan was deployed to Iraq three times, with a range of duties from Guard duty to foodservice. Initially, he had a tough time coming back from Iraq which led him to suddenly change his career path. Pursuing acting, Jonathan recently completed school at the Theater and Film Conservatory for acting. However, the trials of deployment are never far off. Jonathan is grateful for a good friend from Iraq that he talks to every day.

Returning stateside, he still has challenges with PTSD and reintegration within society. Bryant has an automotive mechanic job. He liked to target shoot for fun and wanted to take on 4-wheeling, but had to sell both the 4-wheeler and his gun in order to "put food on the table.” Now, his kids are his “hobby".
"Because I didn't take care of myself due to everything I went through I have expressed to my kids how bad it can get if they do not brush their teeth." They all got new toothbrushes and toothpaste and they brush 2 to 3 times a day. Dr. Lindsey Meyer (Monticello, IA) with Operation Enduring Freedom veteran, Bryant. Rick was deployed to Vietnam where he was part of Special Handling, loading and unloading different classes of explosives in airplanes. Returning stateside, he was not aware of PTSD, though he had lots of flashbacks that lessened through the years. Those difficulties meant going through 3 marriages. He worked an array of jobs from logging, carpentry, construction, etc. He retired at 51 due to back issues and is hard of hearing. Presently, he enjoys metal detecting in the woods.
