Transforming Lives, One Smile at a Time

Matthew & Dr. Danahy

Meet Matthew, a resilient Army veteran who served as a combat engineer in Iraq, specializing in landmine removal. Transitioning back to civilian life presented its challenges for Matthew, but he faced them with unwavering positivity. Despite his optimistic outlook, Matthew's dental health had taken a toll. Determined to reclaim his best self, Matthew reached out for help. His search led him to Everyone for Veterans. Our team paired Matthew with Dr. Danahy, a compassionate dentist located just a short drive away. Dr. Danahy and her team embarked on a journey of restorative care, Invisalign, and veneers to bring back Matthew's smile and confidence.

Rhonda & Dr. Shively

Rhonda met her husband Larry when they were in 8th grade and even then, Larry knew that she was the one, asking her to be his wife when they were 13 years old.

Larry deployed to Vietnam with the Marines and was shot in combat. He suffered significant nerve damage from his wounds and was honorably discharged from service. Upon his return, the couple was married and celebrated 52 wonderful years together until Larry passed away in the summer of 2022.

When Rhonda came to E4V in January of 2022, she was suffering from tremendous pain and discomfort. A serious illness had impacted her oral health dramatically. We assigned her to Dr. Kevin Shively. His team provided compassionate comprehensive care including 16 crowns, a root canal, and a nightguard. The whole team was so happy to be able to assist her in providing her new smile.

Christina, Dr. Elcik & Dr. Stahrr

When Christina came to us, she was going through a difficult period in her life, including some severe health issues that later saw her in two emergency surgeries. She had had a tooth extracted through a local free dental day and while she was grateful to be out of discomfort, she was now self-conscious about her smile. She said, “I went home feeling thankful for the kindness that they had shown me but also very self-conscious because I had a missing tooth… I basically stopped smiling with my teeth, I would find myself only having my photo taken on one side and feeling embarrassed every time that I was in public or when my grandchildren asked me why I had a missing tooth.”

Our team partnered Christina up with Dr. Katherine Stahrr who recruited Dr. Sam Elcik’s expertise. Dr. Stahrr took care of all of Christina’s general dental needs while Dr. Elcik provided Christina with a dental implant to replace her missing tooth. “February 14th, Valentine's Day found me in tears of joy once again because my implant was completed and I got my smile back,” says Christina.

Did you know that only about 15% of veterans who are enrolled in the VA health care system qualify for VA dental benefits?

Walter & Dr. Louscher

Walter is a Navy combat veteran with a love for outdoor activities like golf and paintball. He has faced significant dental challenges over the last several years, he was missing his front teeth and wasn't able to smile confidently or chew comfortably. Our team assigned Walter to Dr. Blake Louscher who was able to restore Walter’s smile and bring back his ability to eat comfortably.

Nathan & Dr. McBrayer

While deployed to Africa, Nathan served in the Marine Corps as a Crew Chief on a CH-53 helicopter. When Nathan came to Everyone for Veterans, he had some fractured upper front teeth which were causing him pain, and some other missing teeth. He was hoping to be able to smile again and chew his food more comfortably. We connected Nathan to Dr. Whitney McBrayer. She provided multiple extractions as well as a full upper and lower denture.
